You have notes to review and want to check what you can explain in your own words. Rather than playing the whole document straight through, try alternating a passage, a pause and a return to the source.
Read Aloud can read supported files you import on iPhone, including PDF, EPUB, DOCX and TXT. In this routine, the app reads the text; you prepare the questions and check your answers yourself. No automatic quiz or marking is assumed.
Choose a passage and a question
Pick a short, coherent part of your notes. Keep the original available so you can check it afterwards. Choosing the passage is your task, not an automatic selection described here.
Before listening, write your own prompt on paper or in a separate notes app. For example: what is the main idea, and which example explains it? Use a question that the passage can actually answer.
Listen, then pause deliberately
Listen to the chosen passage with your question in mind. At a suitable stopping point, pause playback yourself. This is a manual pause, not a special study timer.
There is no fixed duration to follow here. If the passage contains several unrelated ideas, work on a smaller part. The aim is to define what you will try to explain, not to finish a whole file in one sitting.
Recall without looking at the text
Look away from the source and explain the idea in your own words, aloud or in a separate written note. Distinguish what you remember from what you are only guessing.
If something is missing, leave a gap or mark a question rather than inventing an answer. These are your personal responses; Read Aloud is not recording, grading or evaluating them as part of this routine.
Return to the source and compare
Read the passage and compare it with your explanation. Check the key idea, its relationships and any qualifications you missed. Correct your own note while keeping the source wording intact.
Choose what to revisit from the differences you notice. This is a personal listening-and-checking routine, not a validated assessment of the app. It does not guarantee memorisation, exam results or better grades.
Start with suitable content
